On Wednesday we traveled and traveled to get to where we are now...we got to drive through Navajo reservations and buy jewelry handcrafted by a beautiful Navajo woman.
On...Tuesday/Monday (I guess that's when it was...) we were at Arches National Park. All the rocks and arches seemed larger than life! Very magnificent. We ended up on a "primitive hiking trail loop" in Devil's Gardens that took us over alot of "slick rock" to escape flooded puddles...it ended up being 7.2 miles! It was great, though and the finishing stretch on a fin gave us a 360 degree panorama that was spectacular as our eyes fell onto miles of rigid mesas and rocky terrain with green, stubby shrubbery. This campsite was so awesome because we were in the middle of rocks and could go out and explore on our own over the massive red rocks...Mariah and Abi even sun-bathed on them! Oh, and on the hike we met Wayne! He ended up hiking with us and is now a great friend and cherished memory! He had a very big stand on the use of plastic in national parks and said "tisk, tisk, tisk, tisk" whenever there was a spot of that "unacceptable" disgrace. He helped us out navigation-wise, big time, and even today as we were hiking in the Grand Canyon National Park we smiled and said, "Where's Wayne at?"
We love you all! Adios para ahora.
It was so good to hear from you. Sounds like you are being very active. Be sure and get some rest!! We had dinner last evening with Jacob and Tanya at Ray and Bonnie's. It was good to see them as Mr. and Mrs.!! HA! It has been very hot here. We are well and it sounds like you all are too. Keep writing! Jeff and Kari left today to go to Kenya. They drove up to Dulles Airport for the night and will fly out tomorrow. We keep praying for our children who are on the run! Love all of you. Keep safe.
